State of Decay 2 is a sequel to the very popular Xbox 360 title of the same name. The original State of Decay had players battling in a single player experience with fellow survivors, forging communities in the zombie apocalypse.

Its sequel is taking the action adventure survival game online, with players able to team up and work together to battle against the zombie horde. Players will be able to enjoy the game solo or with up to three friends. And we got the chance to see some gameplay.

The gameplay that was being shown was a save file they started that day and see how it would go through the day. So when we sat down the settlement had just been attacked and was badly wounded. People had died or was hurt and they was running low on supplies, so they needed to head out to gather more stuff. They wanted to show the multiplayer also so he wanted another one join the game. When heading out they encountered some people that was being attacked by zombies. So they had to make a choice to help them or leave them. They chose to help them to maybe get some useful workforce in their settlement. So they want to head back to the settlement to get them some medical attention. And we got to see that everything can happen at all time. When arriving they got attacked at the gate since security is down from the last attack. So when the danger is eliminated they are told that one of the settlers that was hurt during the last attack, is fatally ill and will soon turn if actions is not taken. So then you had the choice to kill him (take him out of misery), or try to find a cure (chance of him turning and destroy your settlement) or you could exile him from the settlement (leaving him by himself that could make a situation later)

So they asked us what we wanted them to do

  • Kill
  • Find a cure
  • Exile

All of us agree and said kill.

So you always has to make choices to survive and keep your settlement safe and healthy. Some good and some bad. It looks like it will be a massive world, with many different outcomes and scenarios happening that you can never predict.

Release is set to 2018
