Actor Ryan Reynolds is on the case for the first live-action Pokémon movie. The Deadpool star has been cast to play Detective Pikachu, in the film with the same name. The movie is scheduled to begin filming in January in London, with starts as Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton also cast for their roles.
The plot in the movie is rumoured to revolve around the abduction of the father of Smith’s teenage character, who teams up with Detective Pikachu to rescue him [the father].
The Pokémon universe began with a video game and has since morphed into a multimedia franchise, with the animated Pokémon The Movie: I choose You! grossing $2.4 billion since its release in November.
