The Good
The first thing I noticed, and which I really loved, was the soundtrack in Baron: Fur is Gonna Fly. Personally, I really liked “Kittens are Cute” – but honestly, all of the songs are amazing in their own way.
In addition, I really enjoyed the whole style of the game. Sure, it’s not the most advanced graphics, but it all feels like it belongs together, from the planes and the characters, to the menus and, as mentioned, the soundtrack. The controls are rather easy to learn, but they are very basic when it all comes together.
The Bad
Unfortunately, the most important part of any game, the gameplay, is very repetitive and I grew tired of it rather quickly. That being said, I wasn’t able to meet anyone for some couch gaming (even we at Ulvespill are affected by the COVID-19 sanctions), so how it would be to play against friends I do not know. The thing is, I don’t really feel like bringing it as an alternative to other party games.
There’s also the fact that the game lacks any proper single player. It’s fighting against bots, training mode and shooting sheep. That’s it. There’s also no online multiplayer. And all of this makes the game feel quite unfinished. Simply put, there’s too little to do. The game does have four different airplanes, but they all feel pretty alike and I didn’t feel like the choice of the airplane had any real impact on the gameplay. In addition, the graphics (textures) looks old and could have easily been mistaken for a free to play mobile game.

Verdict
‘Summa summarum’, Baron: Fur is Gonna Fly feels like too little gameplay, wrapped in a too expensive box. The soundtrack is great, and the game certainly follows a style, but when the gameplay is lacking in such basic functionality, there’s little to salvage in the long run. In addition, the graphics look old and dated. All in all, I can’t with good conscience recommend this game, especially when considering the price.
