E3 2018 – Square Enix

Earlier today Square Enix held their E3 conference today. It was very short, and we must admit most of us were a bit disappointed when the conference ended.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Square Enix started of with a trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Where Lara has taken the pilot’s seat. As we already knew, the game is set in a mayan jungle, and as usual there will be tombs to explore! According to the short gameplay trailer we got to see, stealth and hiding in the trees will be an important part of the gameplay. To our excitement the game also features double takedowns as a new gameplay feature. We also got to see some more concept art. The game will arrive on 14th of September, and is a non-exclusive game from launch.

Final Fantasy XIV – Stormblood

The game will get an update called Under the Moonlight, which will also be known as patch 4.3.

In addition, Square Enix and Capcom unveiled an upcoming collaboration between Final Fantasy XIV Online and Monster Hunter: World. A new trailer revealed during the digital press conference provided fans a first glimpse at exciting new crossover content coming to Final Fantasy XIV Online this summer, featuring the “King of the Skies,” Rathalos, from Monster Hunter: World.

The awesome adventures of Captain Spirit

Although we don’t know much about Dontnod’s upcoming game, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, what we do know will certainly be interesting to the Life is Strange fans. The game turns out to be a playable teaser for Life is Strange 2, with hints and links to the upcoming game’s story and characters being part of Captain Spirit. The game will be available for free at 26th of June.

Dragonquest XI

Dragonquest XI also starred in the show. We didn’t get to know much, but what we did get to know sounded promising. “Wield the light, seal the dark, face your fate.” The game releases on 4th of September.

Babylon’s Fall

What we got was a short picture-film, a name and the year 2019. It’ll be interesting to see what this game is though.

Nier: Automata

Square Enix showed Nier: Automata Become: As Gods, which is coming to Xbox One X. This will happen on the 26th of June, the same day as Captain Spirit launches.

Octopath Traveler

We also got a very brief look at a game called Octopath Traveler. Very little is known, but it will release for the Nintendo Switch on 13th of July.

Just Cause 4

Solis will feature four biomes, including grasslands. All the biomes are distinc, with new vegetation, landscapes, and gameplay opportunities. The game once again features Rico, this time Gabriela, the leader of the Black Hand militia, will be the game’s main bad girl. Other new features includes a better grapler, new handling for the vehicles and a new extreme weather system. The game launches on 4th of December 2018.

The Quiet Man

Silence. Rings. Loudest. The Quiet Man seemed to feature a deaf main character, who looked a lot like William from Skam (right?). Here too the details were lacking, but we’ll get to know more during August, perhaps at Gamescom?

Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III was already revealed before E3, but that didn’t stop Square Enix from showing the trailer once more. The highly anticipated game will feature the characters from Frozen. More importantly for the fans though, the game finally has a release date – 29th of January 2019.
