A Way Out, the new narrative-driven game from the team behind Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a co-op only experience. As in, you have to have a partner for the entire journey. In an unusual, but very welcome, setup, only one of you will have to buy the game even if you play it together online(!)
EA which publishes the game, will allow this via a free “friends pass” trial. This includes being able to play the game as long as a friend has bought it, and you’re both on the same platform (and if you’re on PS4 or Xbox One, have PS+ or Xbox Live Gold). EA also announced that A Way Out will launch on 23rd of March 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
During the show the game’s designer Josef Fares, stole much of the spotlight while being interviewed by The Game Awards-host Geoff Keighley;
“I’m so passionate to be here, so excited to be meeting these industry people,” began Fares calmly, before adding, “The Oscars should fuck themselves up. This is the shit. I’m telling you. This is the real shit.” He paused to ask Keighley if he could swear, then shouted, “Fuck the Oscars! Fuck the Oscars! Fuck you!”
As Keighley tried to move things along, Fares noted how it was impossible for anyone to dislike his games, while adding;
“EA has been very good to me, and to be honest with you—because it’s nice to hate EA, blah, blah, I don’t care about that shit—what I’m saying is this, all publishers fuck up sometimes. That’s how it is. They fuck up. But that’s what it is. In this case, it’s like they’ve been treating me very well, I have 100 percent of the income to my team for the game I’m doing, you know?”
The internet did not take long to react, with both Fares’ and A Way Out’s Wikipedia-pages being updated with new “info”. With paragraphs such as “Hi DEMO Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau Tommy Wiseau” being featured.
While being the highlight of the evening, the interview also showed that Fares is just as cool as when he directed Jalla! Jalla! and Kopps.
[…] A Way Out looks incredible, but the director might want to relax a bit. (Even though his behaviour during the show was one of the highlights) […]
