Kaz Hirai is no longer CEO of Sony

While releasing their quarterly report, Sony announces that Kazuo “Kaz” Hirai will step down as CEO on 1st of April, being appointed CEO in 2012. He will instead be a chairman for Sony. Financial CEO, Kenichiro Yoshida will be appointed new CEO of the entire corporation.

Kaz Hirai started out in Sony Music Entertainment in 1984, having several roles until 1995, when he was transferred to Sony Computer Entertainment America, where he in 1996 was promoted to (the special title) “executive vice president-chief operations officer”. After leading SCEA to much success, he became CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, replacing PlayStation-inventor, Ken Kutaragi. Before finally ending up as CEO of the entire Sony Corporation in 2012.
