Small Summary of the Game Awards 2018
The annual Game Awards was just like last year, with Geoff Keighley as the host. The awards intro theme was the games that might have been released for years, but keep on developing themselves. Games like Fortnite, No Man Sky and Warframe.
During the show, we got to see many world premiers of new games, and it all started with the premiere of Sayonara that is being made for the Switch.
Josef Fares came on stage with Geoff and we were excited to see what this legendary Swede would have the guts to say on stage. But he was actually really contained this time, which kinda was a disappointment. But He was rather there to represent the nominees for “Best Action Game”.
Then something that we don’t see often, the heads from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo respectively. Shawn Layden, Phil Spencer, and Reggie Fils Aime started to talk about how the games evolve and how they and we as players motivate them to deliver the best experiences.
Then we got to see the Game Awards Orchestra being lead by Hanz Zimmer and Harry Gregson Williams performing a beautiful Game Awards Medley.
Jonah Hill made his presence on stage to give away the “Industry Icon Award” with the president from Visual Concepts Greg Thomas to take the price.
Then a movie trailer from the upcoming James Cameron film Alita
Patrice Désilets is known for Assasins Creed and Prince of Persia also came on stage to show his new game Ancestors, where we got to see what it will be about.
Even more, we got an insight into the new games that will be released. Casey Hudson joined the stage to show more of Bioware’s Anthem
Joel Mchale returned to the game awards, years after he famously made The Game Awards 2013 a real cringe as a host. With that in mind, we think he had that in his head the whole time. Not trying to do too many puns while giving the award for the best eSport player.
Devil May Cry 5’s theme song “Devil Trigger” was performed by Casey Edwards, a bit more rock-inspired version.
A new game by Digital Foundery got released while it was being shown on stage. -Survived By.
Red Dead Redemption 2 music might be beautiful, even the music. but I think it never has been better than during Red Dead Redemption Music Medley.
Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things came to show a new trailer for season 3, but also they showed a new Stranger Things 16-bit game.
Then a big surprise was shown, Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat and Injustice came on stage to deliver an award. But before he did that he dropped a world premiere for MK 11.
The Game Awards Orchestra ended the show with a Smash Bros Medley.
