We got a chance to test the sequel to the 2014 hit open world racing game The Crew. Ubisoft wants it to be bigger and better this time, and to give more variation in vehicle selection and races.

They wanted to keep it short during the meeting, and rather let us play. So they gave us some minutes to get a feel on the game before getting tasks to do. First we had to choose three vehicles to take with us on a road trip, one land, one air and one water vehicle. This is one of the new features in The Crew 2, that you can now drive planes as well as boats. And the three vehicles you have can you switch between simultaneously. How simultaneously you ask? Well if you drive a car and you jump, mid air you can change to a plane and fly away. Then maybe you fly over water and want to change to a boat and you can. This is a fun mechanic when free roaming around in the game, it makes discovering and coming through places much easier. When we then had learned the basics, it was time to race. We got a chance to try motocross, drift event and formula race. And the game played well, vehicles got a arcade feel so it is easy to drive and have control. Every vehicle is sorted after what they could be used in. you got Street Cars, Drift Cars, Race Cars, Motocross Bikes, Stunt Planes and Race Boats.
This was just the ones that we got to see during the demonstration, and more will maybe be in the full game or added later.
The Crew 2 looks promising, it looked beautiful with a detailed world with a lot to do. Not much was shown about how to progress in the game. More information will come later
Released is set to late 2018
