Dark Souls: Remastered Announced

Dark Souls (2011) – the critically acclaimed action RPG by From Software – was confirmed for re-release in a Nintendo Direct earlier today. The game is coming to the Switch on the 25th of May and other platforms throughout 2018.

While the Switch version was announced first, the official website also shows PS4, Xbox One and PC releases. According to kotaku, all versions will release on the 25th of May this year. Rumors also claim From Software plans to bring the entire trilogy to new platforms.

Dark Souls: Remastered will include all DLC for the original game, 1080p resolution (720p for the Switch in handheld mode) and several other improvements. Also promised: up to six person multiplayer, dedicated match servers and better online matching. Additionally a tweet from Nintendo claims “improved framerate”, which I hope applies specifically to Blighttown – a notoriously laggy area.

So if you’re looking to get in to Dark Souls, the first in a series that has had an enormous impact on video games since its release in 2011, the 25th of May might be a good time.
