Simple, but addictive
We got the chance to try out a retro inspired indie game by bitHammer called Ufo Hunter at “Retrospillmessen 2017” (Retro video game convention)
Ufo Hunter is a 90’s inspired retro game now available on mobile platforms, you can download the game from the AppStore, Google Play, Windows Store and Mac App Store.
Take control over small tank, and blow away incoming aliens, the game might remind you of Space Invaders.
The game is very simple made and nothing fancy, but they have added the most important thing a video game should have, gameplay that is fun to play. We got the chance to talk with two of the developers, John Mæland (CTO) and Marcus H. Eikeland (Advisor) during our playthrough.
John gave us a little fun fact about Ufo Hunter, this game is originally made on a floppy disc by using a IBM 486 computer in QBasic for MS-DOS. That meant when Windows XP was released the game wouldn’t work and was lost “forever”. You can read the full history on how Ufo Hunter came to life right here.
Ufo Hunter launched last year with version one, but as we said, we got a few minor details that might be interesting. bitHammer is working on a version two of the game, with features such as online leaderboards connected up to Facebook. Log into your facebook account and challenge your friends to beat your highscore, a new partnership with Megacool that will allow players to record and make GIF’s. bitHammer is also working towards a console release in the future, and we sure hope they do so. (I can assure you many late nights of positive irritation) But the best is that bitHammer is aiming for an update to release during this summer which will be version two.
We at Ulvespill loved the game, and we challenge our readers to beat our highscores.
A simple but addictive indie game.
