The wait for episode 2 of Life is Strange: Before the Storm is finally over, and obviously I was hella ready to play it. The stakes were high, but were they fulfilled?

Please note that this is a part of the in-progress review of the entire game.

 

Story

The episode begins with Chloe and Rachel sitting in Principal Wells’ office, being in trouble for ditching school yesterday. I don’t want to tell too much about what happens, as this is a major plot point for the entire episode but already here you need to make an important choice.

After the meeting Chloe joins Joyce and David (step-dildo) in the parking lot outside of Blackwell Academy, turns out David is moving in. Surprise, surprise – Chloe is not very happy about that. As a result Chloe furiously walks through town, to end up at the junkyard. If you played the first game you probably recognize what Chloe is laying her eyes upon – as this is a (hopefully) spoiler free review I will just say it’s something very dear to Chloe in the original game.

After this, the game goes into a sort-of transport stage, until close to the end. However there are some high-points which include helping Frank with drugs, or optionally “women stuff” according Chloe. Chloe also pulls of the best “this is so embarassing”-face during the funniest scene in the entire episode.

As with the first episode, you still need to be a fan of the first game to enjoy this prequel. That said, I found this episode much better than the first, even with the “transport”-stage part. Chloe’s reaction to stuff happening in her family is believable (I reacted in the exact same way when the same happened with my family). I feel like the VA’s has become much better in their respective roles, especially Kylie Brown as Rachel performs amazingly in this episode. And even though the ending of the episode was a bit abrupt (and quite easy to foresee), I cannot wait for the third and final episode. Once again, I am hella ready for more.

PS. One thing I want to point out is the fact that Chloe is left-handed, so it is very weird that she draws with her right hand… Something to maybe patch in, Deck Nine?

PPS. Currently it’s a bug in the game that erases your original save file if you play through the episode again from another save slot, so don’t do that just yet.

The Last of Us: Part II won’t release anytime soon

The Last of Us made a lot of fans, who, understandably, wants to see the sequel arrive sooner rather than later. Now the games’ composer Gustavo Santaolalla has spoken on a radio show in Argentina about his work with the new game, saying it will probably be a while until we see Joel and Ellie again.

«I don’t know exactly when it will come out. But a project like this usually takes at least two years to make. I’ve been working on it now for about a year, and after my last concert [on October 28] I will be travelling to LA to keep working on the game.» – Gustavo Santaolalla, composer, The Last of Us: Part II

Santaolalla doesn’t tell when he expects to be finished with his part of the game, and whether or not the rest will be finished by then. Anyhow it sounds a lot like the game won’t be finished until 2019.

Hollow Knight Gets Second Free DLC 26th of October

Hollow Knight, a cutesy, insect-y metroidvania released in February of this year, is getting its second free content pack in late October. The Grimm Troupe is a loosely Halloween-themed expansion so the release date is certainly thematic.

Team Cherry, the studio behind Hollow Knight announced the release date on their blog earlier today. As the game has been distributed through Steam, GoG and Humble Bundle there are several ways to get the update. Steam and GoG versions will be given a free update, while Humble Bundle players will have to download a new version with the content.

The Grimm Troupe will expand the game with a new major quest-line, several boss fights, new player abilities, new enemies, new friends and music. Additionally it adds the ability to create custom map markers to make exploration easier as well as localization for Russian, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 2 now available

Life is Strange: Before the storm – the prequel to Dontnod and Square Enix’s beloved coming-of-age story from 2015 is now twice as big! The second episode releases for PlayStation, Xbox One and PC today.

In addition to the new episode, players on the PlayStation Pro can now play the game in 4K resolution by selecting the «high resolution» mode. Jeff Litchford, vice president of Deck Nine Games promises support for 4K on Xbox One as well «later this year.»

Life is Strange: Before the Storm follows the life of Chloe Price,  Max’s side-kick/best friend/love interest/raison d’être from the first game, through her pre-Max days. You can read our review of the first episode here.

The preview reads:

«As Chloe and Rachel’s family life continues to crumble, their friendship blossoms and the two girls discuss running away together. However, before they can go Chloe gets involved with an errand for Frank Bowers, which puts her in a dangerous situation and exposes an uglier side to Arcadia Bay…» 

and the official trailer seems to promise both romance, drama and excitement!

During the event, Big and Huge Bonus Containers will offer a small chance to get the Ultramarines’ Vindicator or Predator outright.

Looking for that sweet Bright Lord Armour Set in Middle Earth: Shadow of War?
Well, if you collect all Ithildin Fragments on each region you’re off to a good start.

If you haven’t collected all fragments yet, here’s a quick tip to receive them;

  • Make sure that you have fully revealed everything from all three towers in the region.
  • Go to your map and mark a Ithildin fragment
  • Fast travel to nearest tower and go from there
  • Remember that you need to be in “wraith” mode to collect the fragment
  • The Bright Lord Legendary Ring can only be acquired by doing Shadows of the Past challenges. (Earn at least Bronze on everyone and you’ll receive the ring)

There are six fragments on each region, all of them are located on walls. After that head back to the Ithildin gate (marked on your map). And it is here the tricky part comes in, completing the poems. If you can’t figure it out or just being lazy, here is the solutions on each poem on every region.
