It’s nothing new that female characters in video games might be a little sexist. But in the last years and a lot of discussion around the subject, does the female characters gain more respect and “badassnes” (Except for the Japanese).
We all know that the majority of gamers are males, but there is a lot of female gamers out there and more to come. And female videogame characters is something developers are adding more off. Here is my top ten female characters in video games:
10.
Sonya Blade (Mortal Kombat Series)
All the women in the Mortal Kombat is lightly clothed and does show a manly view of “dream girls”
But in the latest Mortal Kombat game, a woman named Sonya Blade changed the default outfit to something sexier and more badass. And did I mention, the new outfit actually includes more clothes. She doesn’t show off her body, but the skills in martial art and gun use.
9.
Princess Zelda (Zelda Series)
What man doesn’t gets commanded around by a girl?
Zelda is not just one character, but several female members in the Hyrule Royal family who plays an essential role in the kingdom. And of course, expected from an princess she commands our hero Link to save here every time. But that is how love is maybe? And the mystery here gains Zelda a place in my list.
8.
Lightning (Final Fantasy)
I’m not a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, but Lightning also known as Claire Farron astonish me. She went from being just a narrator and a temporary playable character in Final Fantasy XIII-2 to a completely badass and the main character in Final Fantasy: Lightning Returns.
7.
Bonnie Mcfarlane (Red Dead Redemption)
If you’re not familiar with Red Dead Redemption you would love this lady in the west, when you start to play the game. She’s not the main character, but does save our protagonist and she gives hell to those who try destroy or stand in her way.
6.
Elena Fischer (Uncharted)
This lady has a huge role in the Uncharted series, and she comes in at number six on this list. She’s an interesting character with humour, sarcastic comments and she can kick ass if it comes to that. Elena accompanies Nathan Drake on his adventures, and boy she can follow him on every step. Even better sometimes (Maybe smarter sometimes as well).
5.
Cortana (Halo)
Cortana will always be any sci-fi nerd favorite. She’s gorgeous as well as intelligent. And did I mention that she’s just artificial?
4.
Bayonetta (Bayonetta)
No, this girl doesn’t come in this place because of what you think. And if you do think that, then this girl would probably destroy your world. She can absolutely handle a gun, and she won’t miss the shot.
3.
Yennefer (The Witcher Series)
Yes, yes I know. This subject had to come just ones during this list. The wait and the struggle to accomplish “the mission” was kinda huge in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (You will know what I mean if you played the game). Yennefer is a gorgeous jet black hair lady with magic! But that is not the only reason she’s my number three on this list. She is dedicated to her cause and she cares, and off course she would also probably kick our ass with her magic or just by her sword.
2.
Samus Aran (Metroid)
Enters a six-foot-three, 198 pound amazon woman who collects bounties in the intergalactic universe. Samus was first introduced to us in 1986’s Metroid, and we don’t regret it. You all thought the main character was a male until she took off her suit and showed us wrong.
1.
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft on the big screen a few years back, and I won’t deny that she is beautiful. But both “old” and “new” videogame character of Lara Croft are not any different. The way she look, voice and intelligent is a few pointers for this character. Me personally would say that Lara Croft could kick Indiana Jones in a fight as well win the race of finding the treasures first. Alicia Vikander plays the role of Lara Croft in the remake of the Tomb Raider movie.
Do you agree with my list?
