Get ready for Red Dead Redemption 2

With Red Dead Redemption 2 just a few short days away, Rockstar wanted to share some information to help you prepare for your epic journey across the rugged heartland of America.

Look out for the Red Dead Redemption 2 Official Companion App, which will be available for both iOS and Android when the game launches this Friday, 26th of October and will connect directly with your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One as you play.

As is common for a game of this size and scope, there will be a downloadable title update addressing a number of last-minute tweaks, bugs, and fixes. To ensure the best possible gameplay experience, Rockstar strongly recommends making sure you’ve downloaded this update before launching the game. If your console isn’t currently set up to automatically download updates as soon as they become available, you can find some simple instructions for enabling that feature here:

For players who have pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2 via the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store, the game is now available to download and pre-install on both platforms, allowing you to jump in as soon as the game is released this Friday.

“Get ready for the launch of the Red Dead Online beta coming in November. As we announced previously, Red Dead Online is a new online connected experience set against the backdrop of Red Dead Redemption 2’s enormous open world. As with most online experiences of this size and scale, there will inevitably be some turbulence at launch and we look forward to working with our amazing and dedicated community to share ideas, help us fix teething problems and work with us to develop Red Dead Online into something really fun and innovative.” – Rockstar Games

Access to Red Dead Online is free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Using the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be ready to be explored alone or with friends, and will also feature constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players. Stay tuned for more details about Red Dead Online in the weeks ahead.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launches this Friday, 26th of October, and will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
