Ni No Kuni 2 @ Gamescom 2017

At Gamescom 2017 we got a chance to test Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, at Bandai Namco’s booth.  First we got a small demonstration where they showed us some of the things we would get a chance to try out. Talking about what is new, and how to play (since some of us are noobs when it comes to these sort of games)

One of the new things we were told about is a new gameplay feature, that we now can rule over our own castle. In Revenant Kingdom, players have the ability to build and manage the kingdom, focusing on the arrangement of work-forces within the town.

Then it was time to test the game.

We had the opportunity to test the battle mode, where you have a lead character controlling two armies in this chibi like battlefield. The armies can consist of swordsmen, archers, shield and more, that also have spells and special attacks available. You control the leader with the armies walking around you. You can change the direction of them with the shoulder buttons to make different strategies. You walk around this open field defeating enemies with you army, changing their placement to your advantage. Enemies also are sorted through different classes and you have to use that army that is best to use against them in this like Rock, Paper and Scissor match. Archers are great in distance but are weak to swordmen in close range. So you have to switch the direction to maybe shield them. After beating the army and their leader the demo was over.

Ni No Kuni 2 will definitely be something different from what the original was, and will probably be easier for everyone to pick up and play.

Ni No Kuni 2 is scheduled to launch on 19 Januar, 2018 for PS4 and PC.
