I was attending Banzaicon 8: Villains and Scoundrels this weekend, and a con this cozy – I couldn’t not write something about it. It was my first time attending Banzaicon and although I had heard rumours about how great the atmosphere was, nothing could have prepared me for such a welcoming community.
Opening show
“Banzaicon is a 3-day festival in Larvik, Norway, catering to pop-culture enthusiasts of every kind. Whether you enjoy anime and manga, fantasy and science-fiction, movies and tv, comics, videogames, larp, board games, cosplay, k-pop…well, let’s just say if you’re a bit of a nerd you’ll find something interesting to do at our convention.” – Banzaicon.no
I was mostly at Banzaicon to cosplay and watch the competitions on the main stage, but Banzaicon also offered workshops, different Q&A’s, live RPGing and an arcade hall, to mention a small selection of things to do.

Cosplay contest part 2

The winner of the cosplay masters competition was Christina Erring as Symmetra from Overwatch. The winner forfeited the prize of a place in the qualifying for the Nordic Cosplay Championship, which instead was awarded to 2nd place winner, Feremony as Elizabeth from Bioshock: Infinite. We’d like to congratulate them both!
All in all, Banzaicon 8: Villains and Scoundrels must be called a huge success, and I can’t wait to go back next year!
Make sure to follow Banzaicon at Facebook to get notified once the next con is announced. Were you in attendance at Banzaicon 8 too? Let us know what you thought of the convention below!
