Staff Opinions 

Christian Skovlund (22) Author

• 1. What has been your favorite gaming moment of the year?
  Among many great moments this year (Playing PUBG with friends, the final scenes of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice), I have to say meeting Rachel Amber for the first time in Life is Strange: Before the Storm is the one that meant the most to me.
  

• 2. What’s been your favorite review to work on?
  I would have to say my review on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was my favorite this year. Not only is it a near perfect game, but the sheer impact it has had on a lot of people’s view on severe mental illness(es) makes the game so important. And it helps showing how games can be art.

• 3. Favorite news article you’ve written?
  My favorite news article this year would have to be the voice actor strike ends-article, obviously I support their strike for better working conditions, but seeing the strike coming to an end truly brought joy to my heart.

• 4. What’s been your biggest disappointment this year (in games)?
  Sonic Forces… Yes, I know that 3D Sonic has yet to feature in a good game (maybe apart from Sonic Generations). But after Sonic Mania my hopes were high, and once again, shattered.

• 5. We recently did our own little game awards, here’s your chance to bemoan your picks that didn’t make the list
  Personally I would have loved to see Chloe or Senua win our “Favorite Character”-award. But I am in no means dissatisfied with Ratbag as the winner.

• 6. 2017 was a great year for games (though not for much else), which games are you looking forward to getting around to?
  I’m looking forward to Vampyr, as well as The Last of Us: Part II. I’d also have to mention The Walking Dead: Season 4, even though A New Frontier was mediocre at best, getting the final season in Clementine’s story will hopefully live up to the first and second seasons.

Joakim Ulvær (23) Author

• 1. What has been your favorite gaming moment of the year?
  This year there have been many nights with gaming online with friends, PUBG, Ghost Recon Wildlands and Destiny 2.
  

• 2. What’s been your favorite review to work on?
  I Must say Tekken 7, since this has been a game I had waited for a long time, and it did not disappoint at all.

• 3. Favorite news article you’ve written?
  Gamescom 2017 was the best, with the trip to Germany and get a chance to be a journalist.

• 4. What’s been your biggest disappointment this year (in games)?
  How Loot-Boxes have ruined some of the biggest games this year.

• 5. We recently did our own little game awards, here’s your chance to bemoan your picks that didn’t make the list
  Not much to say here for me.

• 6. 2017 was a great year for games (though not for much else), which games are you looking forward to getting around to?
  I’m really looking forward to Spider-Man on PS4, Last of Us: Part II, God of War and Far Cry 5. I’m also is really excited for Death Stranding to see what will become of that.

Kim Hansen (26) CEO

• 1. What has been your favorite gaming moment of the year?
  There has been a lot of great moments this year, but playing online with friends in Players Unknown’s Battlegrounds with proximity chat must have been one of the greatest moments.
  

• 2. What’s been your favorite review to work on?
  Ohh wow, well, there has been a lot of games throughout the year. But if I had to pick just one it would be Horizon Zero Dawn. (Or Resident Evil 7 in VR, or maybe the indie title Rain World, omg there has been a lot of great games! )

• 3. Favorite news article you’ve written?
  Covering Gamescom 2017 is indeed my favorite news article coverage this year.

• 4. What’s been your biggest disappointment this year (in games)?
  I was looking forward to a game called Troll and I, but they didn’t quite deliver sadly. It might even be on the same level as Superman 64 was for the Nintendo 64.

• 5. We recently did our own little game awards, here’s your chance to bemoan your picks that didn’t make the list
  I’m quite satisfied with our Game Awards this year, but if I had to change some by my own personal option I might changed the best graphics to Horizon Zero Dawn instead of Hellblade, and Troll and I for the most disappointing game.

• 6. 2017 was a great year for games (though not for much else), which games are you looking forward to getting around to?
  I almost can’t wait to get my hands on The Last of Us: Part II and Red Dead Redemption 2. I also look forward to try out the new SpiderMan game and the new adventure for Kratos in norse mythology in the next God of War game.

Åsmund Kløvstad (21) Author

• 1. What has been your favorite gaming moment of the year?
  I’ve had some excellent moments in Heat Signature. One time my character exacted revenge on her girlfriend’s killer by teleporting through a wall, causing him to shoot himself because I had previously sabotaged his emergency shield. Then I blinked back and escaped through a window into the vacuum of space 1.2 seconds before the spaceship crashed into a space station.
  

• 2. What’s been your favorite review to work on?
  Space Pirates and Zombies 2 was a pleasant surprise. I was not expecting to enjoy that game nearly as much as I did and working out why was very insightful.

• 3. Favorite news article you’ve written?
  Probably my quick update about Mermaid Heavy Industries. I’ve been a fan of Andi’s work for a while and being able to spread word of developers like that is always fun.

• 4. What’s been your biggest disappointment this year (in games)?
  I had to play Night in the Woods on my 32-bit laptop which lead to a crash whenever the game tried to save at a certain point. After looking forward to the game for years, that was a huge letdown. (I did get around to it later)

• 5. We recently did our own little game awards, here’s your chance to bemoan your picks that didn’t make the list
  I am going to bemoan Heat Signature’s character reclaiming not winning best mechanic. That whole game is brilliant and it’s one of the better mechanics.

• 6. 2017 was a great year for games (though not for much else), which games are you looking forward to getting around to?
  I’m going to try to get around to Nier: Automata. Robots and philosophy sounds like my jam and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.
