Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 @ Gamescom 2017

0

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2  is an upcoming Lego-themed action-adventure video game developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on 14 November 2017. It is the sequel to Lego Marvel Super Heroes and the third installment of the Lego Marvel franchise. With the core gameplay following the same style of past Lego titles, the game features the ability to manipulate time and a four-player competitive superhero battling mode. Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2’s storyline will center around superheroes from different eras and realities of the Marvel Universe as they fight against the time-traveling Kang the Conqueror in a battle across space and time

At Gamescom 2017 we got a chance to test it out and to play against one of many bosses. For those that have played any of the previous Lego games it will feel similar right away. What they have changed about the game, is that they wanted to make it approachable for kids as much as adults. So enemies will now be smarter and more difficult to defeat and you have to use tactics to take them down. They will counter your attacks if using the same all the time, so you have to switch it up. You can still defeat them with the same attack, since that’s often how children play it. But it’s easier to switch tactics to defeat them.

Since it will played in different time eras, there will be different versions of characters that you meet through the game. So if you think there was a lot of characters in the original, just wait until the sequel gets released.

The open-world looks massive and will contain elements from all the franchises in the game, spanning from different ages.

It looks like it will be a big game with many hours of gameplay, playing through the story and exploring the world.

Time will show 14th of November 2017

Ni No Kuni 2 @ Gamescom 2017

0

At Gamescom 2017 we got a chance to test Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, at Bandai Namco’s booth.  First we got a small demonstration where they showed us some of the things we would get a chance to try out. Talking about what is new, and how to play (since some of us are noobs when it comes to these sort of games)

One of the new things we were told about is a new gameplay feature, that we now can rule over our own castle. In Revenant Kingdom, players have the ability to build and manage the kingdom, focusing on the arrangement of work-forces within the town.

Then it was time to test the game.

We had the opportunity to test the battle mode, where you have a lead character controlling two armies in this chibi like battlefield. The armies can consist of swordsmen, archers, shield and more, that also have spells and special attacks available. You control the leader with the armies walking around you. You can change the direction of them with the shoulder buttons to make different strategies. You walk around this open field defeating enemies with you army, changing their placement to your advantage. Enemies also are sorted through different classes and you have to use that army that is best to use against them in this like Rock, Paper and Scissor match. Archers are great in distance but are weak to swordmen in close range. So you have to switch the direction to maybe shield them. After beating the army and their leader the demo was over.

Ni No Kuni 2 will definitely be something different from what the original was, and will probably be easier for everyone to pick up and play.

Ni No Kuni 2 is scheduled to launch on 19 Januar, 2018 for PS4 and PC.

Call of Duty WWII gets open beta for PC

0

A month after Call of Duty: WWII’s closed beta on consoles, it’s finally the PC-peoples turn. Thursday, Sledgehammer announced a new multiplayer beta, which you can play via Steam from 29th of September to 2. of October.

Unlike the console beta, you do not need to have pre-ordered the game for this beta, one of the reasons being the developers needing to have a proper stress test of the servers. Exactly what the beta will include is not known, but Sledgehammer is announcing more during the next two weeks. The developer has also promised that the players can pre-load the beta to get the maximum amount of time in the game.

Final Fantasy IX is out now for PlayStation 4

0

Square Enix attended Sony’s Tokyo Game Show-conference tuesday, with a trailer for PS4 version of Final Fantasy IX. The game was launched shortly after, and is already for sale on the PlayStation Store.

It seems like this version is based on the Windows, Android and iOs-version which were released last year. Among other improvements you could use “booster”-programs, which allow you to turn off all battles, give yourself more levels or just turn up the game’s speed. That was probably a great addition for those who didn’t have time for a 100 hours playthrough.

FFIX was the last in the series on the PSOne, as with many of the other Final Fantasy games, the game relies heavily on turn-based fights. With a massive melodramatic story to capture the player’s interest.

Dontnod delays Vampyr

Dontnod Entertainment announced yesterday that their new game Vampyr is being delayed until “Spring 2018”. The game was intended to launch in November of this year, but after some technical difficulties this is no longer possible.

Vampyr - 1
Vampyr

“Delaying the release of a project you hold dear is always a tough decision. However, we believe that meeting a deadline should never compromise quality. We were still convinced just a few weeks ago that we would be able to release Vampyr this year. Unfortunately, a technical issue – now solved – has set our teams’ schedule back at the end of the development.
This delay allows us enough time for all the polishing and balancing phase, much needed for a game of Vampyr‘s scope, with its ambitious, semi-open world, its complex narrative and deep RPG mechanics that give players a real impact on the world.
We want to thank our publisher Focus Home Interactive for giving us the means and time necessary to provide players a memorable experience… especially since so many of you are eagerly waiting for it.” – Oscar Guilbert, CEO of Dontnod Entertainment.

Vampyr is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, although now somewhat delayed.

American McGee is making a proposal for Alice 3

0

About a month ago, American McGee felt the need to ask fans to stop pestering him about the surreal platformer Alice. He said he had no control over the series, and that fans should bug EA instead. Now he wants them to bug EA more than ever, because he is working on a proposal for Alice 3.

McGee made the announcement on Twitter and his blog. Explaining that he is just about to start working on the proposal, which includes pretty much everything from artwork to a business model, before sending it to EA.

Part of McGee’s plan is to have weekly streams during development, where players can give the team feedback and suggestions.

Maize – Review

0

“Is it too corny?”
Name: Maize
Developer & Publisher: Finish Line Games
Released: PC release 1, December 2016 / Console release 12, September 2017
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Reviewed on: PlayStation 4

I must admit that I didn’t know about Maize until they announced a console release. After watching several trailers and a small look at the gameplay from other PC gamers, I must say that I was intrigued to get my hands on this corn-fielded-maze-themed game.

So is Maize worth your precious time or is it just something to pop in the microwave?

Graphics

Maize do have some funny and well created facial animations on a few characters. But there is also some characters that should have gone through a second check before release.

If you are familiar with indie games on PC or some triple A games, you’ll notice almost immediately that Maize is created in the Unreal Engine. Most of the artstyle, environment among others beside a few characters are decent enough but also kind of basic as well.

“But shouldn’t it be amazing if you master the basic?” – Yes it should, some objects were superb made, like the cornfield and the corn-characters. But overall the graphics is a generic look that doesn’t inspire much.

Story

When you launch the game for the first time, you’ll get nothing like a short introduction such as a cutscene, text bubbles or even something to indicate what the hell you are suppose to do. I got a glimpse of a few of the corn characters running away from me in the cornfield though. As I progressed more into the game I learned more about the story. Mainly our main goal is to find a way to set free the corn and save their queen.

Sadly the story gives you more questions than answers, there was some descriptions in different folio’s but that was not enough to cover the narrative.

Gameplay

Okay so we have talked a little about the graphics and story, and for now does Maize deliver an “Okay” experience. So what about one of the most important topic when we want to play a new game, is the gameplay any good?

Maize attempts to deliver a first person puzzle solving adventure game. The controls might be better optimized for PC, as the controls on console felt a little clumsy sometimes. It did take some time to learn the button layout and the ability to jump was missed.

As you progress throughout the game you’ll encounter different objects, puzzles and more on your journey. It might just be me, but I found the puzzles easy to figure out, and collectibles easy to find. The challenge wasn’t quite there, I found myself in a few situations that I got bored running around trying to find different collectibles. That good feeling you normally get when you have figured out a puzzle or finally had found something rare isn’t there.
