(DRAMMEN, NORWAY)
Earlier this year we wrote about DBK organizes eSport teams for its young members. Not only that, but they also hosted a small LAN event in their own building named “Øren Flerbrukshall”. You can see it as a gym for a school, and we at Ulvespill got the opportunity to set up a small booth at this event.

“Gaming isn’t just about having a hobby anymore. People begin to be so good at this, that they deserve a platform that will take them seriously. And that’s something we want to help with.” – Fredrik, Board leader DBK eSport
Approximately 120 people attended this event plus thirty/forty crew members give or take. And that’s pretty good because this is the very first time an event like this is happening in this city. Drammen has never gotten their own LAN event, but that’s not the only thing that happens for the first here. For now, there are only two sports clubs in Norway who bets on eSports, (At that time, Lier IL announced yesterday that they will bet on this as well) DBK and Driv IL. And of course, we couldn’t have a LAN event without some friendly rivalry in Overwatch! It was a pretty adrenaline rush to watch this match and OfficialTGO who cast the match did a really good job. (DBK eSport won the match by the way)

The Hive hosted other compo’s as well, such as PlayerUnkowns Battlegrounds and Tekken. But the main thing we will focus on here, is what did we at Ulvespill do at The Hive 2018?

We did, of course, bring our own rebel of a Pikachu, who always runs away from our booth hiding inside the building. And this time we also got the opportunity to cooperate with Øystein who brought two touch tables and big screens with arcade sticks. We held a Hearthstone competition on the touch tables, where people could play against Thugga who plays professionally at our own national eSport league “Telenorligaen”, the first who won got a prize.

Our second competition during the weekend was Soulcalibur VI with custom-made arcade sticks. We did host some minor competitions as well, such as winning over Ulvespill staff members in other video game titles. But our Hearthstone and Soulcalibur VI compo’s was the most popular ones.

You might not know this, but a local music band named Donkeyboy was present at this event since they have begun to live stream games such as Fortnite. They call themselves NorwegianThunderBoys, and they did host a minor Fortnite compo sponsored with prizes from both Ulvespill and The Hive.

Overall we had a blast! Kids and youths got the opportunity to test out Super Mario Party on our Nintendo Switch, Guitar Hero on PlayStation 2, Pinball arcade machines, Soulcalibur VI on custom-made arcade sticks, Blackout in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on the PlayStation 4 and much more!
