I genuinely don’t know how to look at Super Seducer 2. The original game was pretty much a disaster, so I’m very uncertain if anything can be salvaged for the series. I do try to keep an open mind though, and perhaps RLR Training has flipped the coin completely, and made one heck of a game? Only one way to find out!

Story

Already here I have difficulties finding out how I should review Super Seducer 2. I mean, there is lots of more story, with more branching than in the first game, which is a good thing by itself, but it’s so dreadfully boring. And I don’t know if it’s serious these dating advices the coach comes with, but they’re all horrible. As a girl, if a guy came up with me and tried flirting like that I’d almost call the cops. Like seriously, I’ll quote Lucy from Charlie Brown if this is how men are supposed to behave; “STOP THE WORLD; I WANT TO GET OFF!”

Graphics

As with the original, the whole game is made using real-life actors and real footage of them playing out your choices. Mercifully the quality of the footage itself has improved (considerably) from the first game. There are no longer green edges all along the actors, which is a considerable improvement. The acting itself is so-so, but at least the game now features a much wider spectre of actors, with diverse ethnicities, styles, etc.

Gameplay

Again, very similar to the first game, Super Seducer 2’s gameplay is all based around choosing what Richard is going to say next. What I will praise the game for though is that there are now more to choose in each scenario, and that seemingly every scenario can have different outcomes (like, actual endings, not a “you screwed up, try again”-screen). Fortunately, it seems the developers has toned down the sexist jokes Richard used all the time in the original game. By all means, he’s still awkward and not very feminist friendly, but there’s a step in the right direction, at the very least.

One huge step in the right direction is the addition of the ability to play from a woman’s point of view. Although I didn’t find it very much like how I (or my female friends) think when it comes to dating, at least it’s now a feature.

Controls

I’ll have to quote myself from the review of the first game here, as nothing has really changed: The entire game is basically a movie with some choices, controls are next to none existing. I only tried using tme house and the arrow keys, but once again there’s also possible to use a controller. There’s nothing special to mention about the controls, except the lack of adjustable input sensitivity for the mouse (if you don’t like it, you have to change the settings in Windows.). Oh, and the fact that the pre-release version had some issues with the text boxes not showing what the actor actually said. I assume this will be fixed by release, though.

Replay Value

Now here is where the Super Seducer 2 really shines (at least under the circumstances). Unlike its predecessor the game actually has replay value! The different scenarios can now have majorly different outcomes depending on what choices you make. For example in the first scenario, there’s at least two different girls you can try to get lucky with. I must say I personally don’t feel like playing each scenario several times to get all the endings, but at least it’s now an option.
