Tekken 7 – Review

Get ready for the next battle

Name: Tekken 7

Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Released: 2, June 2017
Platforms:  PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC
Reviewed on: PlayStation 4

Finally it’s back, Tekken is back! We haven’t got a canon Tekken game since 2007

after being only playable in arcades for two years, Tekken 7 has finally gotten released on consoles and PC. Once more The King of Iron Fist Tournament is being held and our favorite fighters are gathered again to beat each other up, Mishima family is at war and new fighters has joined the roster. Does Tekken 7 have what it takes to be on top again in the fighting genre?

Graphics

This is the first Tekken game to be released on next-gen console, and the first time ever on PC. Tekken 7 looks good running in smooth 60fps, I never noticed any drop in frames either. It’s not the best looking game ever, but there is nothing to complain about it neither. It’s like the same thing I said in my Injustice 2 review, we do not play fighting games because of the graphics. Tekken has always been a franchise that keeps up with the time, and this does too.

Story

This time they have changed how the story is being told, and going with a style more like Mortal Kombat. Usually you choose a character and fight through stages until you meet the boss and defeat him, and unlocks a ending to that chosen character. So you have always gotten the story through a one minute ending, give or take. And the war between the Mishimas have been going on for a long time now, and Katsuhiro Harada (producer of Tekken) said this will be the end of the Mishima saga. Like NetherRealm Studios recent games, you will play as different characters through the story. But unlike Mortal Kombat you will not play with them all, but the Mishimas (Heihachi and Kazuya) also as the guest character Akuma from the Street Fighter franchise. His role in the story is to fulfill a debt he has to Heihachi’s deceased wife Kazumi to kill Heihachi and Kazuya, all this is getting explained in the game. The story is being told by a unknown reporter, that want’s to expose Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation because of the destruction they are responsible of the world and the death of his family by the war. It is all well told and answers allot of the questions fans of the series have had through the years. After Jin disappeared after the incident in Tekken 6, Heihachi sees his chance to take control of the Zaibatsu again and will do anything he can to be the most powerful man in the world. But Kazuya wants the same, and wants to get rid of his father.

Bandai Namco has put in a story assist which you can assign to a button, that helps you to perform certain attacks easier. This is really helpful for newcomers to the franchise and helps to enjoy the story and maybe not get stuck in fights.

So the Mishima saga is a great addon to Tekken.

If you are not a fan of the Mishimas, and just want use the others you are bit out of luck. Because the only story they are getting is literally one fight against a “Rival” and a short ending. These are set in pairs an example is Hwoarang and Devil Jin you get almost the same ending just from a different perspective. And that ruins it a bit for me, I want to know what is happening with the others and their story. And it feels too short to tell anything about them. 70% of the endings are just them fooling around, nothing that builds up to anything in maybe later instalments. So if you want the story to everyone except Heihachi, Kazuya, Jin, Akuma, Lars, Alisa and Lee you will be disappointed. And because it is only one fight, you never get the chance to learn how to play them. And with 10 new characters in the roster you get no time to know them unless you use them in other modes.

One thing to mention is that Bandai Namco has done as Lee would say “Excellent” job to implement Akuma in this game. His moveset and his part in the story all makes sense and don’t feel odd and out of place.

There is a total of 38 characters to play with at launch including Eliza as a pre-order. 10 of them is new characters to the franchise

  • Katarina Alves: A sassy Brazilian woman who practices the art of Savate. She was designed to be a beginner-friendly character.
  • Claudio Serafino: A white-clad man from Italy who’s a member of an Anti-Devil organization combating the Devil Gene’s threat. Empowered with a Sirius magic.[5]
  • Lucky Chloe: An otaku who wears a kitten-themed costume and has a «Freestyle Dance» fighting style.
  • Shaheen: A keffiyah-wearing Saudi Arabian man who handles a «Military Self-defense» fighting style. He was also designed to be a beginner-friendly character.
  • Josie Rizal: A young Filipino woman who wears a yellow top, a blue miniskirt, and a red bow. She practices Eskrima and Kickboxing.
  • Gigas: A hulking, red-skinned humanoid who appears to have cybernetics attached to his otherwise nude body.
  • Jack-7: A new model of the Jack series, he has a slightly modified design with red hair and green glowing arms. As with the previous Jack series, he uses brute force to pummel his opponents.
  • Kazumi Mishima / Devil Kazumi: Heihachi’s wife and Kazuya’s mother, who possesses the Devil Gene. Kazumi’s fighting style is Hachijo Style Karate, which is similar to the Mishima Style Fighting Karate as used by her husband and son, but with additional abilities such as summoning a tiger and levitating. She originally served as the game’s unplayable final boss prior to becoming the seventh time release character added after launch. Kazumi also has a devil form, which remains unplayable outside of the final stage in which she is fought.
  • Akuma: The dark master of the Satsui no Hado from Capcom’s Street Fighter
  • Master Raven: A female ninja with a fighting style very similar to Raven. She is in charge of the organization that the original Raven works for.

Gameplay

Like before Tekken really shines when it comes to gameplay.  This is a series that appeals as much to hardcore gamer as of newcomers. Fighters is being controlled by 4 buttons Left Kick, Right Kick, Left Punch and Right Punch. You perform combos by pressing buttons in different orders and combining them, press them in different directions to perform attacks. This is a setup that is easy to use hard to master.

Tekken 7 do not change much when it comes to the fighting, not that it is a bad thing. It is like the game you have always loved, and feels familiar. Old characters move like they have always done, with some new tweaks and moves. The key to win is to juggle the opponent and punishing combos, and to balance offence and defence.

New to the gameplay this time

Rage Drive

Rage Drive now act as an alternative to Rage Arts. A Rage Drive is a series of consecutive attacks or a single attack with a higher amount of damage and increases the options a player has.

Rage Arts

Rage Arts can still be activated during Rage Mode, but the lower amount of health remaining in the user’s health bar, the more damage is dealt.

These two makes the fights really exciting and fresh, and kan really make you feel powerful when you K.O a opponent with a Rage Art only one punch away from being knocked out yourself. One of the most exciting thing was when I was playing online tournament, and in the final my opponent was one attack away from being defeated and so was I. we were throwing one attack after the other on each other blocking and side stepping. And I was running towards him to give him the final blow, and he was also. As I jumped to kick him and he ran to punch, the game goes in slow motion and my kick hit his head and I won. And I must say my heartrate was a bit high after that.

There is a variety of things to do in this game

The Mishima Saga

This is the story part of the game and character episodes

Offline

  • Arcade mode
  • Treasure Battle this is the mode where you fight to win treasure chests which unlocks items to customize your character.
  • Vs Battle
  • Practice

Online

  • Ranked Match
  • Player Match
  • Tournament

Customization

You can customize every characters with hundreds of items that you can buy or unlock through Treasure Battle or Online Tournaments. You can also customize player panel and the look of your health bar

Jukebox (PlayStation 4 Exclusive)

This works like Tekken Tunes in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, where you have the full soundtrack of all previous games. Which you can listen to, or replace the stage music from previous games.

Gallery

Here you can watch all cutscenes and endings from Tekken 7, also everything from the previous games.

There is enough to do if you want to play alone or online, but i feel there is a lack of things to do in local multiplayer. Team battle where you can chose between 2-8 characters to make a team to use against your friends team is gone. Which I really missed to have, and maybe a mode like Tekken Bowling or Tekken Ball that I remember having a real blast with in earlier instalments.

It’s said that a new mode will show up in future DLC but we don’t know what it will be yet. Hopefully it will be a mode to use in local multiplayer.

PlayStation VR – Review

0

The war of virtual reality has really began to start, as Sony’s joining into the pit with the PlayStation VR.

The main question people tend to ask me, how much did you pay? Is it worth all the money?

Well, in this review I will try to give you guys my opinion on the new system from PlayStation.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COSTS?

You must have a PlayStation 4 system and the PSVR camera (PlayStation 4 camera works as well) to be able to use the VR headset. So how much money do you need?

Well the PSVR is priced at around 557 Euros here in Norway, and the PlayStation 4 camera is priced at 65 Euros. You do not need move controllers to get the VR headset to work, but this does work best to gain full experience. Move controllers priced at around 103 Euros  (can find cheaper somewhere else).

So to sum this up:

PlayStation VR full experience – 725 €

(Own PS4, no games included)

PlayStation VR full experience – 1074 €

(Buy PS4, no games included)

IS IT WORTH THE MONEY?

If I compare the PSVR with the rest of the “pit” (Oculus Rift and HTC Vive) you will find out that the PSVR is significantly cheapest. If you go buy the full experience from PlayStation, it would still be cheaper than the Oculus Rift headset alone. But is this a good thing?

Specs

Let’s get into the specs, the PSVR does have the lowest display quality compared with the “pit”. A 1080p 5.7 inch OLED screen compared with Oculus and Vive’s 2.160 x 1.200 on each eye. There’s only one big thing with this. In certain features or games, if you don’t have the specs right in front you,I’ll bet you don’t even notice the difference.

One spec that the PSVR has, that the rest of the pit hasn’t is the ability to render games from 120Hz to 90Hz. This means a more smoother experience, and motion sickness less likely to happen.

Gameplay

Because of the rendering ability, I got myself to play even longer and more comfortable than I’ve used to from Oculus.

As well as playing games that are specific for VR, you can also play regular PS4 games as Destiny or FIFA. This is because of the cinematic mode in the headset. It’s incredible fun and impressive feature, but with a small image quality sacrifice.

DESIGN AND COMFORT

The VR headset alone is beautiful to look at. It looks expensive and makes you happy about it on the shelf the when not in use.

The white edging and black fascia inside makes the headset more “futuristic”, and all the blue lights that make the motion works, looks almost taken from an sci-fi movie.

The headset is very sizeable, you can press a button at the back to extend the plastic band and then place it over your head, it will then automatically adjust to fit. If you still feel like it’s loose you can tighten it up with the dial behind.

The headset feels very comfortable to use, it doesn’t feel like the headset is gonna kill your head by gripping. The weight is evenly balanced between the front and the back of the headset as well. One big bonus is that people with glasses will have no problems with this headset. It fits!

But not everything is shiny and beautiful. There are a lot of cables in the work, two HDMI cables, one USB cable, power adapter for the processor, thick USB cable for the headset and a small USB cable from the headset as well. This means there’s a lot of wires in the way if you don’t find an solution hiding it. The cables ain’t a issue after you have connected and hidden a few cables.

THE VERDICT

I personally think that the PSVR is worth your money now. The VR experience and line up with games are incredibly good and affordable for normal people. The comfort and design is pretty sleek and it’s incredibly fun to use.

The PlayStation VR is the best experience on the market for now, and the gameplay is more comfortable experience than the Oculus. There are a lot of cables in the works but not an issue.

9/10

  • Beautiful design
  • Better value than Oculus and Vive
  • Comfortable to use
  • User friendly
  • Need more USB ports for charging on the PS4.
  • PlayStation camera sometimes struggle to locate the VR headset

A few blurry moments on graphics on different video games  (not that noticeable)

Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels

Name: Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels
Developer: Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios
Released: 09. May 2017
Platforms: Xbox One and PC

How do you make one of the best Open-World racing games better? How about fusing together Forza Horizon with Hot Wheels cars and tracks. Because this is what the expansion offers you, graphics, gameplay and car physics from Forza with cars and tracks from the Hot Wheels brand.

Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels adds ten new cars to the game, including some of the toy brands more famous models like Twin Mill, Boneshaker and Rip Rod. It also has a brand-new campaign set in Australia, where players can complete events and work their way towards the ultimate stunt-driving test: the massive new Hot Wheels Goliath circuit. For creative types, there’s an editing feature called Stunt Swap that lets you modify track sections. And, of course, the Hot Wheels tracks are available in online multiplayer, along with a brand-new Playground Arena.

And I must say, it was a real blast playing through the expansion. I love the Forza series, how the cars handle and the options to customize. And then to drive my favorite cars on “plastic tracks” in Trackmania fashion at over 400 Km/t it’s just awesome. It won’t take you a long time to unlock all the races, but to complete them all and get all stars may be more of a challenge. Because that is how you progress, one star you just have to complete the race, two stars complete and finish 1st, three stars complete and finish 1st then perform a task. The tasks can be to perform an action or finish the race in a certain time. And then there’s Drift challenges, Stunt challenges and Speed challenges.

Verdict

All this expands Horizon 3 and makes it a diverse experience. And I wouldn’t minded if it had been released as a stand-alone game. This is what I call a good and expanding DLC, it adds something new and fresh but also feels familiar. I recommend this for every fan of action packed, fast paced racing.

9/10

  • +New cars
  • +Fun and fresh tracks
  • +Expands the game
  • -You wish it was more when done

Rise of the Tomb Raider – Review

Title: Rise of the Tomb Raider 20th Anniversary
Original Title: Rise of the Tomb Raider

Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC

Developed:  Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal
Publisher: Square Enix
Reviewed on: PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR

Rise of the Tomb Raider was originally released as an exclusive title for Xbox One and PC back in 2015. But now one year later, PlayStation owners can enjoy the next big adventure of Lara Croft.
Rise of the Tomb Raider on the PlayStation 4 is something we can call an remastered version or Definitive edition. Upscaled graphics, textures and added a lot of new stuff to do as well.

This review will cover all the new content, and not depending on “old story and DLC”.

(Anniversary Trailer)

What’s New + Graphics

Me personally would say that this anniversary edition of Tomb Raider is very basic level on the upscaled graphics and so on. It’s not bad at all, it’s “bloody excellent”.

But what is different with this version of the game, than the original. All the additional DLC is there, but they also added a few more content. The biggest add on is the side mission “Blood Ties”. Here you play completely in Croft Manor, Lara’s home, known from the classic PS1 games twenty years ago. This mission is also available to play through the PlayStation VR.

Look into the fate of Lara’s mother, using clues and objects hidden around the manor.

The real treats of all the new materials, as the “old ones” could have been freebies instead of paid DLC is cosmetics, plus two new additions and enhanced Endurance mode. One addition i mention earlier Blood Ties, but the second one is Lara’s nightmare.

In Lara’s nightmare, we play through zombie challenge-survive-mode. It’s fun to play this mode sometimes as a break from the main content in the game.

VR
I’ve tried to play “Blood Ties” mission inside the PSVR, but found it very difficult to control Lara around the house. At some points i almost throwed my controller away because of irritation of small things that should have worked. For instance, opening closets, picking up books and so on.

The Verdict
Lara Croft’s “new” adventure isn’t quite the definitive version on the PlayStation 4 system, though the graphics looks bloody excellent. Smooth gameplay and frame rate makes this game even better than before. New additions like Blood Ties didn’t appeal to me, as i struggle with the controllers, but the rest of the content I enjoyed. But Rise of the Tomb Raider is competing against Uncharted 4 this year for best adventure game and Tomb Raider isn’t getting at the top. But for me, second place is good enough.

8/10
+ Still a great game, after one year
+ Smoother gameplay and frame rate
+ Enjoyable extra content

– Difficult controllers in VR Mode
– Blood Ties feels pushed forward

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered – Review

1

Name: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
Developer: Raven Software, Infinity Ward, High Moon Studios, Beenox, Certain Affinity, nerve

Platform: Xbox One, PS4, PC

“By far one of the best remastered versions of this generation”

(As Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered haven’t fully released yet, as the multiplayer is missing at this point. I decided to split the review in half for this game. That means i will give two different scores. One for the story and graphics, and one for the multiplayer experience)

The legendary Call of Duty game who started the multiplayer as we know it today is back. Raven Software and multiple more develop teams has worked hard to bring us an remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It’s not only multiplayer, but also the intriguing storyline with all known characters as Captain Price and Soap Mactavish.

But let’s talk a little bit about this word “Remastered”, when a developer team decides to remastered a videogame they upgrade the graphics on the original game. But Raven Software has done a lot more than upgrading the graphics on Modern Warfare. I’m not sure of why they call this an remastered version instead of an remake, as they have done a lot more to it.

Let’s give an example on this, on the F.N.G mission for instance. They added a lot more soldiers on the base who just works on different trucks just to make details feel more alive on the base. As well added a new side mission just to learn how to use explosives.

The storyline itself hasn’t changed, but i can also say that about gameplay. All the guns feels the same, the A.I reacts just the same as before and the flooding of spawning enemies is still there.
But the developer teams knows that people are used to fast paced first person experience nowadays, so they have added a few more steps to the sensitivity on the controllers. Me personally didn’t use this, as i’m used to the old experience and loved it. However this could be very handy in a few missions, for example in “Mile High Club” on veteran difficulty.

A few more intels is added to the game, that we can find by searching through the campaign.
As you finish up the story, you can choose to play different missions on either “Arcade” mode or just replay a mission on a different difficulty. But how does this intel collecting reward you?
As you collect them, you can start cheats. A new intel means a new cheat. For instance making grenades explode with lemon juice splashing around, play in western theme just to mention some intels without spoiling the fun.

GRAPHICS
The developer teams has done an incredible job upscaling the graphics. Modern Warfare feels new, fresh and up to date for modern video game graphics. Sure if this game was to release for the first time now, it wouldn’t be revolutionary.

Resolution upgrade, textures, environmental details, changed a few character models, enhanced lighting, architectural details and much more is just a few things they have upgraded. Audio-wise the upgrade isn’t as big as the rest. All the glimpses the original version had, it’s still there. That’s not a bad thing, but something they should have fixed. If they not intended to keep the nostalgia.

VERDICT IN PROGRESS
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is by far one of the best remastered version of this generation. The develop teams has done an incredible job upgrading this game. Everything looks new and fresh and at the same time keeps the original design as we know it. Gameplay experience is just the same as nine years ago, but with fresh eyes with upscaled graphics and few more framerates.

Every changes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is visibly from the very beginning to the end.
The big negative about this game, is access to it. It’s not an standalone game, you have to buy a special edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to get this. If you buy a physical copy you must have the Infinite Warfare disc inserted to play Modern Warfare.
10/10
+ Incredible job on graphics upscaling
+ Nostalgia
+ Replay value
–  Audio update could be better, not crucial
–  Accessibility
–  A few minor bugs

The Sexy Brutale – Review

The Sexy Brutal is a beautiful puzzle adventure game, set in a gothic mansion full of murder mysteries to solve. And you have the ability to rewind the time to prevent them from happening.

Story

Lafcadio Boone awakens in a mansion where guests are being murdered, and a curse forces you to live the same day over and over in a endless loop. And only him can relive the day, the game sets in motion the thriller feeling at the start of the game. An bloody girl gives you a mysterious broken watch, that gives the user the ability to rewind the time. Then you witness the first murder, where the owner of the watch is the victim. After you save him he fixes the watch, and after this the adventure begins to save the other victims and to find the source of the murders.

Launch Trailer

Gameplay

The game itself is set in a gothic hotel that can give you the chills, but also encourages you to investigate. You can interact with the whole room, this gives the game a fun and entertaining element. You can never be in the same room as the other people, so you have to look through key holes and hide in closets to spy on them to gather clues and information

The characters you meet and save through the game is dynamic, and builds up the game’s intention that there are more happening under the surface of the Sexy Brutal Hotel.

The game is really entertaining, you can use hours to understand the plots and what to do, and in the end you feel like Sherlock Holmes when you finally do find the solution to the murder and how to prevent it.

The puzzles can be a challenge but also fun and interesting, and everyone of them is unique. From switching out bullets for blanks or using surveillance cameras to warning them of danger. This is the kind of puzzles you will meet, and you can always rewind if you mess up. There is things to collect to give you more information, about the hotel and the people in it. To further give some backstory to it and getting us involved with it. Sometimes I would struggle to find the clues or to understand what i would be searching for with not much hints to help me. But then I just had to explore more and be more patient.

For every murder you solve, new abilities you unlock to get new clues and open new areas of the hotel.

Verdict

The Sexy Hotel is a fun game, with great puzzles and a intriguing story. Beautiful environments and with characters that goes with it. A great game for people that likes puzzles and feel like a detective.

FIFA 17 – Review

0

Name: FIFA 17
Release date: 27,September
Developer: EA Canada
Publisher: EA Sports
Platform: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC
Reviewed on: PS4

This years FIFA is quite different from the others, there are two big main changes to FIFA 17.
The use of Frostbite engine known from the Battlefield series, and a story lead campaign called “The Journey”.

At first I was a little sceptic to a story based campaign in a Football game, but it turned out to be very good. And just to keep in mind, I’m not a very big fan of the FIFA series as the games are more or less just the same gameplay experience. But I got a little experience with every single FIFA game, as it is a very good game to play with friends at home on the same screen.

STORY
As said  FIFA 17 does include a story mode, first I was thinking this would be kinda clichê like the Goal! movies. But “The Journey” is quite good for a story based campaign in FIFA, as they got help from the Bioware team to make the story.

Not to spoil to much, but I figured you’re an FIFA fan as you bother to read my review on it. At the beginning you start to play as a little boy called Alex Hunter, and as the years go by we get a vital trial that could change his life for ever.

The story itself includes clichê characters, as the all working dad, caring mother, sleeky agent and friendly grand dad. Even though the characters and the story is very basic, does the cut-scenes, voice acting and more work pretty good together.

But not everything in The Journey is perfect, as you play you will counter situations where you have to choose what Alex Hunter will say (like in Skyrim, Mass Effect and so on) and this is then again suppose to have an impact in future situations as play time on the field with your team and so on. Same goes with on how you perform on the field and in training. But sadly I couldn’t see much difference in the choices I’ve made.

GAMEPLAY
As the Frostbite engine is introduced to the FIFA series, you would think the gameplay experience would be different or even better on the field. But no, the gameplay experience stands the same as last year’s FIFA 16.

FIFA 17 isn’t much different from FIFA 16 in gameplay experience, it’s slow paced, defensive focus and complicated button combinations. Everything from where you want to place the ball, directions, how hard you should shoot and so on, everything you have to for yourself. In comparison with PES 17 where the game naturally thinks on what you would do. Like shooting the ball to the corner, in FIFA you need to think on how hard you should shoot and aim, and off course hope for the best. But on the other hand, if that ball goes as I want it to, that feeling I was sitting with scoring a goal againt my friend. That feeling is pure joy and excitement. It is quite the same as FIFA 16, but in FIFA 17 the players are more “physically”. And by that I mean the game is more realistic than before. That is something to get used to, as for myself need to stop falling over the ball or get knocked down by the referee.

Online play is one of the strongest points in FIFA, and FIFA 17 does deliver this. As for me had much more fun playing in the pretty addictive Ultimate Team mode. In FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) you build up your own team by opening packages, there you get suits, players and more. And from there you have to set up your team in formations, does the chemistry between players look good and so on. There was a lot of things to think of before heading to an online match against another player.

GRAPHICS

The Frostbite engine didn’t have much impact on the gameplay experience, but it does have impact on the graphics. Players look better, and the football stadiums look amazing, especially in night time. Animations, cutscenes, facial expressions and more look beautiful with the Frostbite engine. There are still some minor bugs, but not vital ones yet for those I encounter on.

.
THE VERDICT

FIFA 17 is a very strong and surprisingly quite different from the other FIFA games out there. With the entry of the Frostbite engine, could this be the groundwork for future FIFA games. Graphics look amazing, but gameplay is something to get used to as it is a little complicated controls.

Story mode is much more fun to play if you just play as Alex Hunter and not the whole team, like you do in “Be a Pro” mode.

+ The Journey
+ Graphics
+ Ultimate Team

– No big changes in gameplay experience

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Review

0

I’ve never played one of the earlier Deus Ex games, so my background story in the series are a little short. But when i started the campaign in Mankind Divided something brilliant showed up, “Do you want to see a recap video?”
That feature is something every videogame franchise should have, and now i’m on track with the storyline.
My review on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is based on my gameplay experience with the game, controls, graphics and the understatement of the story. Is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided fun to play for someone who’s not familiar with the series? Let’s find out

Story

Besides the main campaign, you also got other stories to play as well. First mission got me blown away regarding graphics, the minor flaws that animations and voiceovers not maching, didn’t seem to bother me. But then the first mission was over and after a long intro video, we could throw ourself into the world in Prague. Honestly i had no idea what the story behind all of what happened. Because after the first mission the story got clumsy and rushed to a weird finish.

All the characters you meet do not appeal to me any way at all, besides that they come back later with weird choices.

deusex-mankind
deus ex

The story itself it’s very short as well. In my opinion should a game like this hold at least 40 hours gameplay. But here i was finished in around 20 hours.

Every side mission i found by accident by talking to random citizens was kinda easy to play through. But i still haven’t found them all.

Gameplay
You can choose from a lot of different set ups for the controls in the game. If you’re a FPS player then you can use those settings. I’ve just got one big issue with the controls, and that’s the movement and animations was kinda “hard”. And by that i mean if you’re familiar with other shooters like Battlefield, Call of Duty and so on, the movement are fluid and fast. But in Deus Ex. Mankind Divided the movement was unrealistic and static.

The fighting system was fun in the beginning, but that lasted after i finished the first mission. It got boring and i felt i’ve seen everything.

On the other hand, some of the puzzles in the game was very fun to explore on. Figuring out how to get places and hacking doors and so on. Same goes if you go non-lethal and stealth, here lays most of the fun in the game. Despite the lagging and terms of quality for a number of reasons.

deus-ex-mankind-gameplay

Graphics

The cinematics in the game are gorgeous to look at, and same goes with the environment.
Characters and animations in another hand belongs to next generation, or even back to the PS2 era. Most of the game felt unpolished and rushed by the developers.

Verdict.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided looks like a good game, and it is at some points. But it could have been more and better. If the developers had more time with the game to polish it, used more time on the story and gameplay. Then i’ve would give this game a better review. But sadly the next Deus Ex did not live up to the expectations. Especially for those who aren’t familiar with the franchise.

Drawn to Death – Review

How good is the newest bloodbath from the creators of God of War and Twisted Metal.

Name: Drawn to Death
Released: 04.04.2017
Developer: The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Drawn to Death is an attempt to make a fun bloody third-person shooter, combined with a brawler arena multiplayer. The game is set in a sketchbook drawn by a teenager which is bored in class. But can it compete with the others in the same genre?

Graphics and Gameplay

Drawn to Death is set in a sketchbook, and the graphics shows that really well. Everything is interpreted that way, with a cell-shaded like with drawings. There is nothing to point out about it, It’s making the game stand out from the others.

Drawn to Death features a handful of intricate maps and creative modes, a half dozen deceptively complex characters, and a large variety of weapons that are admittedly fun to experiment with. There’s a shotgun, for example, that can sprout ax blades if you pull the trigger with precise timing, and a coffin that catapults corpses, which you reload by literally yanking a new one out of the dirt.

All this sounds good, but it doesn’t feel good to play. You move sluggish and floats through the air like paper, (no pun intended) and it takes to much damage to kill an opponent because of all the health you start with. An effect of this is that every weapon feels weak, a lack of punch in them.

There is no split screen multiplayer, and only 4 player limit online. This makes the matches boring and short.

Drawn to Death is horribly unbalanced. There are a few weapons that is unfairly overpowered, and just ruins the game. Likewise with the character roster, each of the six avatars available at launch has a unique arsenal of abilities, moves and special attacks. And some are just garbage compared with others. Alan, a seemingly pedophiliac teddy bear with a chainsaw, automatically regenerates health, turns invisible at will, and has powerful special attacks. Meanwhile, Johnny Savage, a guitar-wielding punk, is basically useless because his unique abilities – a ground-slam and guitar attacks – require far too much precision to be reliable.

And because of all this, this game is going to need updates and new content to be a game that people will play on a regular basis. Add modes that support more players and balance it better is a start.

Verdict

It’s  a game that could stand out,  had it just been worked on a bit more. It can be fun sometimes, at least if you play with some friends. But with some odd design choices and unbalanced gameplay ruins the experience, makes the game unplayable. .

4/10

  • Interesting graphics
  • Unique characters
  • 4 player limit

Lego Worlds – Review

Name: Lego Worlds
Released: 7, March
Developer: Traveller’s Tales
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Platforms: Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Pc
Reviewed on: Playstation 4

Lego Worlds is Traveller’s Tales latest game in the Lego franchise, but this time it’s not based on another franchise. This time it is an open sandbox, with the tools to create whatever you want. Yes, this is maybe the game everyone that loves lego want to play. How does it compete against games like Minecraft?

Graphics

Let’s start off with the graphics in Lego Worlds, but how do you compare graphics in a Lego game? I played this on a regular Playstation 4 and it looks really good, every little detail is made of Lego. But since release the game have been struggling with framerate on different occasions. When you explore dungeons and new locations, it can drop sometimes. And when exploring  the biggest worlds, textures sometimes are missing.

Story

Well, the story isn’t the reason why you will play this game. And it’s not much to say about it, it’s a simple story.

You start as an astronaut explorer, and the spaceship gets hit by a meteor. Then crash lands in a random world, and the spaceship is wrecked. Then we are told we need to find Gold Bricks to fix the ship. The more Bricks you collect the more powerful the ship gets, and further you can travell. And that’s the story, collect 100 Gold Bricks to become the Master Builder.

Gameplay

This is the most important when it comes to a Lego game.

But this game may confuse you, it depends what you want from this game. I bought this in the belief it was more like for example Minecraft, build whatever you want, whenever you want. The game starts of that you collect a tool gun, that you use to store everything you need. People, animals, vehicles and build sets this gun copies and store for you. To use and paste when building or doing quests. Then you get a tool to paint everything you want to with, and the one to lower/raise and flatten the terrain. Those are the basic tools you get to build and change the world you are inn.

The last tool you get is one to build things, brick by brick. You unlock the tools right away, so you don’t have to wait a long time to get them. But if you want to build things from scratch with the brickgun, you have to collect every little piece to use them. This can take some time to do, since you have to explore to find them and beat a little green monster that walks around with them. And there is no build mode in this game, so you have to play the game and explore to collect everything you need to build what you want. This may be disappointing for some, that might want to play this game for the building part.

But after 30 hours+ in this game, exploring and collecting i have to say i enjoyed it. The world is fun to be in, with its Lego charm the world never feels empty. There is people everywhere that want’s your help, trading, building and collecting is what the quest’s usually is about. So it is a massive universe to explore and you will often forget what you was doing and side tracked a bit.

The menus can be a bit clunky sometimes, that might be because this game started as a early access to pc. But it plays well with a controller,  and is easy to use to explore and build.

Verdict

It’s a game with some small issues, but it is a good game i would recommend. With 2 player local and online multiplayer, it’s a fun experience. if you like to be in a massive world and do whatever you want it’s the game for you. But if you just want to build from the start it may be bit slow.
